Donners of the Dead by Karina Halle

The year is 1851 and the pioneers in search of California gold are still afraid to travel on the same route as the Donner party did years before. When the last wagon train to go into the Sierra Nevada mountains fails to arrive at their destination, Eve Smith, an 18year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills is brought along with the search party, headed by an enigmatic former Texas Ranger, Jake McGraw.

What they find deep in the dangerous snow-covered terrain is a consequence of cannibalism, giving new meaning to the term "monster." While the search party is slowly picked off, one by one, Eve must learn to trust Jake, who harbors more than a few secrets of his own, in order to survive and prevent the monstrosities from reaching civilization.

I have been waiting to read Donners of the Dead, and once again Karina Halle out did herself!

Okay I'm just going to come out and say it was a 4 Star rating for me. The writing was awesome like always and she didn't disappoint me with this book.

Donners of the Dead is loosely base around a set of true events when the Donner Party went through uncharted regions and strands a wagon train in the Sierra Mountains leaving little choice for survival and lots of cannibalism.

Eve is a a 18 year old half Native American who is strong but also vulnerable, I fell in love with her character immediately!
Jake McGraw is a sexy ex Texas Ranger who is mysterious and a arrogant bastard.

Both of them along with a group of people set on a expedition into the mountains.
Now reading this at 3 in the morning left me wide awake and not sleeping! Flesh eating monsters was is not what I wanted to be dreaming about, but I wouldn't mind that arrogant bastard Jake keeping me warm in bed;)
The action pack writing in this book is to die for!

There is finger biting, heart eating, eyeball stew, and even romance in between all the terror. What else can you expect from one of the most awesome authors out there!

There is gore, suspense, mystery, action pack, and romance not to mention my Texan accent came out full blast while reading it.lol
Karina Halle's book left me fangirling over her even more. All her books are fascinating, gripping, and captivating!
  Donners of the Dead is a great read and would recommend this to anyone.

Mixing It Up by Ariel Ellman

Ani's beloved sister Sawyer Mackenize from The Sweet Spot is back with her own love story in Book II of the Boston Harbor Romance Series, and it is just as sassy, sexy, and audacious as the pink-haired, pierced Sawyer is! Warning: Smoldering sex scenes between tall, dark, macho, sexy Italian man and hot bi-sexual Irish girl from the South End of Boston. Content includes explicit language, hot sex scenes, a spicy threesome, a lot of humor and a little heartbreak with a happy ending.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my... get ready when you read Sawyer and Bobby's story because it's caliente!!!
I came across Ariel Ellman, Boston Harbor Romance Series about a month ago and I automatically fell in love with the First Book.
The Sweet Spot is the first book in the series but when you read it you just can't help but fall in love with "ALL" the characters.
Sawyer's character was unforgettable in the first book and was glad she became the focus of
Book II.
She always thought of her self as a lesbian and has no plans for men and so she fought hard and was bullheaded when it came to admitting her feelings for Bobby. But to her surprise, Bobby change change that for her and slowly slipped into her heart.
Bobby character is awesome!!! He's down to earth, accepting, loving, and loyal. He always tries to show Sawyer that they can be good together and before she knows it, Sawyer's head over heels in love with him, but still doubt's if she can be with him.
Loved how Ariel brought back the characters like Ani, Bast, and Jordan without overshadowing Soy and Bobby's story.
There is a little bit of heartbreak but plenty of humor, pigheadedness, teasing and Hector's Tequila which ends with a HEA for both of them.
I thought Ani and Sebastian's story counldn't get beat but Ariel Ellman proved me wrong and I couldn't be happier. Can't wait to read Jordan's story, Mississippi Spice.
Karina Halle:
Donner's of the Dead
***A Standalone Horror Romance*** Jake McGraw was unlike anyone I’d ever known. He was brash, rude, unapologetic and arrogant; chauvinistic, close-minded, and terribly stubborn. He was built like a tree, tall with a hard chest and wide shoulders and hands that looked like they could wrestle a bear. He was a cigar-chomping, scruffy-faced, beast of a man. I was pretty sure I hated him. And I know he hated me. But among the flesh-eating monsters in these snow-capped mountains, he was the only thing keeping me alive The year is 1851 and pioneers in search of California gold are still afraid to travel on the same route as the tragic Donner party did years before. When the last wagon train to go into the Sierra Nevada mountains fails to arrive at their destination, Eve Smith, an 18-year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills is brought along with the search party, headed by an enigmatic former Texas Ranger, Jake McGraw. What they find deep in the dangerous snow-covered terrain is a terrifying consequence of cannibalism, giving new meaning to the term “monster.” While the search party is slowly picked off, one by one, Eve must learn to trust Jake, who harbors more than a few secrets of his own, in order to survive and prevent the monstrosities from reaching civilization. ***This is NOT New Adult***
Undefeated By Scott Hildreth
Finished reading Undefeated by Scott Hildreth and I'm not really sure what my feelings were on this book. I didn't like it but I didn't hate it either, it was kinda blah to me. First there is Shane Dekkar a boxer, polite gentleman, some what shy guy outside the ring and a beast in the ring. Then there is Kace Meadows a woman who has been in a 10 year abusive relationship, both mentally and physically.
I had a hard time getting into this book and I just couldn't connect with the characters. I did love being in Shane's head while he was fighting and wished there was more of that and I also loved the way he took his time with his relationship with Kace.
Sometimes I caught myself skipping a few pages because they were boring and the sex scene in the book was not cutting it for me, I found it lacking and the description was dull. Some of the story didn't add up right, the only character that held my interest was Ripp. He was goofy, sexy, kick ass and I just really enjoy his personality. I might consider reading Ripp's story.
What I did like about the book was the whole concept about abuse awareness.
So yeah... this is my review. Short and to the point!
I give Scott Hildreth
Synopsis:
Aislinn Jane O’Rourke, AJ to her business associates, was tough. She was known to be the strongest and most brutally honest negotiator in the state with rigidly upstanding business ethics and high morals. Anyone who knew Aislinn knew she was formidable and powerful. The standard to which Aislinn led her business was the standard to which she led her life. Men were unnecessary and unable to satisfy her mentally, emotionally or sexually. As one of Seattle’s most eligible and wealthy, Aislinn preferred a low profile, free of the entanglements that men represented. Jacoby Weston was a confident man, arrogantly secure in his prowess, who liked a challenge. Many things challenged Jacoby… the daily running of his business, the negotiation of life with a broken and dysfunctional family… but women did not challenge him. Women were a pleasant diversion but never for more than one night in his basement. Until he met Aislinn O’Rourke during negotiations for a choice piece of property that he wanted. Fascinated by her intelligence, her ethics and her incredibly sexy body, Jacoby met the challenge that Aislinn presented with an uncharacteristic fervor. The more she rebuffed him, the more he wanted her. Upon the conclusion of their business deal, Aislinn and Jacoby negotiate a new deal - a deal with higher stakes than either expected… their hearts. With the paparazzi stalking them, their pasts looming over them and mysterious events that unsettle them, Aislinn and Jacoby struggle to keep their budding relationship from being destroyed while trying to control the intense, pulsing desire that drives it. Can Aislinn and Jacoby negotiate the challenges of a relationship without compromising their hearts?
